TO PRESERVE ONE'S OWN LIFE AS THE WORLD FALLS INTO DARKNESS, IS TO JEOPARDIZE ALL THAT TRULY MATTERS, INCLUDING YOUR SOUL
Hoka Hey,
I can't help but wonder--even onto now,
are we but earthly born bodies grasping to find spiritual meaning,
or rebellious heavenly spirits allowed the lusts of this flesh for if we pass or fail?
WE'VE BEEN DUMBED DOWN OUR ENTIRE LIVES TO BE NOTHING BUT SPOILED, PERPETUAL CHILDREN FOREVER PLAYING WITH TOYS

On Being A Mountain Man
As of late I have really been thinking on what it was to live the life I have, of knowing forThe wild Yukon river certain sure that I was a mountain man in the truest sense of the word, at least as to this modern age. On the web I read of men, so many that think this or that about the subject of going into the wild, some even having done a considerable amount of mountain doin's. Yet so many think that merely hunting, or being an "outdoorsman" (a term I detest) is somehow equated with being a mountain man, with no change of heart, no true answering the call of the wild involved. As if any activity outside of the brainwashed, city slicking trap we live in has somehow qualified one to call themselves a "mountain man".

Yet I feel we must take those notions in context and yes, compared to a city slicker that has never been further than a park as to going into the wild, they are certainly more skookum than a pilgrim, yet I think as the years pass we are losing the validity of the term in such careless labeling of what indeed was the very foundation of what opened the way to this sprawl we call civilized doin's. So what is a mountain man? Or more particularly what is a modern Mountain man? I'm going to have to think on it for a spell, but it's really got me wondering for those that have answered the call of the wild, where do we fit in, or do we even at all. To be continued...
